Everyone is always complaining they have no time to do anything. Well, I am sick of hearing that, especially when I get a prank call from one of my close friends...that complains the most about not having enough time.
The other night I was sitting in the dorm with a bunch of people from the floor and I got a restricted call on the cell phone. I answered it right away not knowing who it was and said hello three times before someone started talking.
This voice ended up sounding unfamilar. They were disguising their real voice like talking like the youtube character, Salad Fingers. "I like rusty spoons," said the prank caller. First of all, I have never heard of this character before I was pranked. I was creeped out right away.
The prank went on for a well five minutes before they finally hung up. I found out the next day it was my friend and they thought it was so funny. But, all I was thinking, you hardly have any time to hang out let alone you prank call me and I was wondering who else you have been pranking on your "free" time that you never have.
We are in college now, do we really need to keep pranking people for a good laugh?

Roommates
Upon coming to college I always heard living with someone else would be difficult. To me I never thought it would be a problem. I grew up with 3 sisters and a brother and they would always be in my room taking or borrowing something. But I have learned after just the first week of starting school that living with someone at school was going to be difficult. My roommate and I have had quite a few problems but luckily we have been able to get through them all. I didn't consider the fact that we would be in a very tiny room and had to live so close together. I am use to having my own room to get away to. But here there is no where to get away to there are always people around. Another problem I came across was the fact that all my roommate does is sleep all day and go to bed early. She is taking very easy classes and classes such as dance where she doesn't get any homework. But I am trying to get into the nursing program and I am taking classes which requires me to constantly be doing homework and studying. She can only sleep if there is total darkness so I have to sit there with a tiny light straining my eyes. She is also always complaining about something. At home if my siblings got on my nerves we would just fight or wrestle to get our anger out but with a roommate you don't want to be rude and learn how to get along. But at times that just seems close to impossible. It is impossible to live with someone when you can't get along. It also makes it hard because I knew her a little bit from back home. She went to the high school right next to mine. It makes it even harder when you join the same sorority and have the same group of friends. We are togehter 24/7 and she doesn't understand that we need to do our own things. There are just many things she does that I don't approve of and it makes it very hard to live with a roommate so different than yourself.
Vacations!
It is about that time of year to start thinking about spring break. Although it is still months away reservations need to be made and plane tickets need to be bought. Spring break can be stressful besides the fact of needing to come up with money to pay for the whole thing. I also need to find people who want to go and can afford it. Then I need to get past the parents letting the group of us go alone. There are so many plans that go into this one week. Is it really worth it? I think so. I love vacations whether its travling far or just driving to wisconsin. Its a time to get away and have fun and not worry about a thing. This spring break I plan to go to Florida. That is my favorite place! I love the warm weather and all the pretty palm trees. Florida has been my favorite place since I was little. My family would go at least once a year. Disney World is my favorite place, I love roller coasters. One time my older sister and I went to Disney World for a long weekend and rode Tower of Terror 23 times in a row. It is by far my favorite ride! But now that I am older having to plan your own trips are much more stressful! I miss having my dad make all the plans and pay for the whole trip. Now that I am older and have more responsibilities I have to figure this all out on my own. Luckily my parents are pretty cool so I am hoping they might help me out a little. But I definatly think all the hassle of putting a trip together is worth it for a week of relaxation. But by planning the trip so far made me realize all the times my family went on a vacation it was not very easy to put a vacation for seven together and it is hard to find the cheapest prices. But no matter what I love vacations!

World Series
Tonight is the night that all baseball fans wait a year for. Tonight is the start of the world series featuring the Colorado Rockies and the Boston Redsox. Both teams have amazing stories about there past. The Colorado Rockies are entering this years World Series for the first time in their twelve year existance. Boston on the other hand enter this World Series by coming back from a 3 to 1 deficet over the Cleavland Indians. Many people that are not big baseball fans dont understand just how difficult it is to overcome such a large defict. Also what makes this so amazing for Boston is that in 2004 they became the first team ever to overcome the biggest defict ever in MLB history by coming back and winning the ALCS series over the New York Yankees trailng three games to zero.
This World Series has alot to talk about as well, with many records in position to be broken. The Rockies have won 20 of there last 21 games including games leading up to the post season. This is one of the longest winning streaks ever by any baseball team and to say that the Rockies did this with the pressure that they were under makes it that much more incredible. They won 13 of there last 14 games of the season including a one game playoff game that eventually put them in the playoffs and filling in the last position available for the playoffs. They have won every game so far in the 2007 playoffs and are on pace to sweep the playoffs and win the World Series. Yet after this incredible run they are still considered underdogs and are predicted to lose. What makes this World Series so huge for Boston is that if they win this series this will be there second World Series championship in the past two years after being the team with the second longest drought without a ring in the MLB. So when you flipping around on TV and u come across the baseball game now you will understand why this game is so popular and what exactly is at stake. The Way I See It
The way I see it people in the world should care more. They should care more about themselves, other people, and the Earth. Right now most humans are spoiled and only think about themselves. Many of us need a humbling experience. We go throughout our lives worrying about what we want or need. We forget to think about what others less fortunate than us need things more. We are driven by our own ambition and forget to see the finer things in life like a sunset. Ever since we were children we were given things that we wanted. Now that we are older we work for what we want but forget to give back. People are so obsessed with their own personal things that someone else might need our help.
People might find it funny that they actually might enjoy helping others out. Most people will look at as a waist of time of that they have to sacrifice something to help others but we can get enjoyment out of seeing others succeed. Donating money to different organizations that help people less fortunate is a simple way to help the world out. Being a mentor has lasting affects on the student and the teacher. The student gets to progress into a successful adult and the teacher can see the progress from the start and know that they made a difference and a person’s life. Just doing the little things in the streets will help individuals tremendously and no one can tell what a small deed can become in the future.

30 Days of Darkness
I know all of you have seen the advertisements for 30 Days of Darkness. The new look on the Vampire thriller seems to be very promising. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/30_days_of_night/news.php
This link above tells other views on the movie. I plan on seeing it some time later in the week or weekend. In the Northern Star i read an article boasting about the movie, it promises a great thrill and a new spin and story line not ordinarily found in traditional vampire movies. Even the pictures of the villains in the movie tell a different story than the average Dracula. They are much more intimidating and I am sure instill more fear into the audience. This past weekend I traveled down to Joliet, IL with a few of my friends for a Halloween party. I of course am not a far stretch from looking like a full fledged vampire. I already have the trademark widows peak, fangs, and black hair. So, in spirit of my enthusiasm i based my costume off of the new vampires in the movie. It was quite a thrill and people at the party kept questioning me on who did my make up and what not. It was awesome to say the least. Overall I would encourage the rest of you to see this movie, I have a feeling you will not be dissappointed.

Sweetest Day
This past saturday October 20th was Sweetest Day. What is Sweetest Day? In a way it is sort of like another Valentines Day. It is a day where my dad always gives my mom a card and a gift and usually gives all us kids a package of our favorite candy and a card to remind us how much he truely loves us. But why do we have this day? It is always the 3rd Saturday in October. And it is a day dedicated to your sweet heart no matter who it is. I don't know if I exactly like this holiday because I feel like it is another Valentines Day. I also don't need a holiday to let people around me know I love them. I am the kind of person where I can let people know how much I care for them any time not just on a holiday. A guy from Cleveland Ohio was the one who started this holiday. He worked as a candy company employee. He had good intentions of wanting people to feel that they are important but people should feel they are important everyday not just on the 3rd Saturday in October. Throughout the years it changed from a holday to give happiness to orphans and others who have been forgotten to a holdiay where people express romantic love and where they show appreciation for friends. It originated as a really good idea but now I just feel like its to similar to Valintines Day. If you want to learn more about Sweetest day check out, http://www.theromantic.com/sweetestday.htm.
Multiple Sclerosis
In my life so far I have had 2 people rather close to me get the disease Multiple Sclerosis MS. It is a very sad disease and over the years the disease has seemed to only get worse. When i am around things such as that I am much more appreciative of the little things I can go in life. Such as walk and run and have the ability to do things on my own. The 1st encounter I had with a person with MS was a lady who lived in my neighborhood and needed someone to take care of her and help her around the house. A few years ago I would go to her house everyday after school and help her. I would load the dish washer when I got there and unload it right before I left. I also did her laundry and watered her plants. I would have to vacume and dust. I pretty much took care of her whole house but I also had to take care of her. A person living with MS has to do exercises daily. This lady had a very bad case so and couldn't even walk she was in a moterized chair. I would help pull her out of her chair and place her on the ground. Then I had to help her stretch. Her body couln't do anything for itself. The hardest part was having to get her back into the chair. She was an older lady who had kids who were also older and moved out of the house and lived in different states. Everytime I was there all I could think about was what if my mom had to go through this. It would be so hard to watch a person who was once active and fine deal with a disease which is slowly taking over there body because MS disrupts the messages sent through the nervous system. My second encounter with it came with my boyfriends mom. I have been with him for about two years and in the two years I have slowly watched her get worse and worse. She is not able to walk very well and it is very hard for her to go out of the house. She wasn't able to go to our prom pictures due to the amount of walking. Little things like that breaks my heart that a person has to go through that. If you would like to learn more about MS go to http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/multiple-sclerosis/DS00188.
